Reduce the cost of food wastage by re-sealing it.
Every year in the UK alone, households throw over 8 million tonnes of food away because it is no longer fit to consume. This is equivalent to about £700 per year to the average family. One of the most common causes of food wastage is poorly packaged food.
Food packaging performs an important role to protect contents during transit, to enhance on shelf presentation and to lengthen shelf life. However, frequently the opening of the pack damages the packaging, exposing the food to the air. This greatly shortens the time the food can be used before it becomes unfit for consumption and requires additional packaging such as cling film to retain product freshness.
To overcome this problem, Macfarlane Group Sweden AB have listened to both consumers and manufacturers and developed a groundbreaking product Reseal-it®. Reseal-it® enables consumers to easily open food packaging and having accessed the content re-seal the pack ensuring the unused produce inside is safe and fresh. Reseal-it® eliminates the need for cling film or storage containers and retains the integrity of product identification.
The Reseal-it® System is compatible with the majority of existing food packaging machinery ensuring an easy and timely integration into existing packaging
operations.
Over the last three years, Reseal-it® has been introduced by major food manufacturers in Europe and North America and incorporated into 600 million packs across a wide range of produce, from sliced meats and cheese to biscuits and cookies.
